FREE MUSIC SKETCHPAD

Sketch a tune in your browser.

Click notes into a piano roll, play them back, and check them on a treble and bass staff. Then download a MIDI file for your DAW, MusicXML for notation software, or a WAV to send to someone. It's free with no account, and your notes stay on your device.

HOW IT WORKS

Everything happens in one browser tab.

Write

Click the piano roll to add a note, or type exact values in the note panel: pitch, start beat, length and velocity. You can also start from a .mid file.

Listen

Play the whole sketch or audition one note to hear what you wrote.

Read

The sheet view draws the same notes on a treble and bass staff, so you can see the shape of the line.

Export

Download MIDI, MusicXML or WAV, print the sheet view, or save a project file to pick up later.

LIMITS

What it doesn't do yet.

  • One soundPlayback and WAV exports use a plain synth tone, with no instrument samples. To hear piano or other instruments, load the MIDI file into your music software.
  • Small WAV filesWAV exports are 22.05 kHz mono. That's fine for sharing a sketch. Use the MIDI export for anything you plan to mix.
  • Sheet previewThe sheet view shows the first five bars and doesn't draw rests, flags, beams or ties. For a printable part, export MusicXML and open it in your notation program.
  • Notes-only MIDI importImporting a .mid file brings in the notes. Every track lands in one part, and the file's tempo and instruments are skipped.
  • Saved in this browserYour sketch autosaves in this browser. Clearing site data clears it too, so download the project file for anything you want to keep.
PRICE
