Loan, break-even and opportunity cost calculators
Check what a loan costs each month, how many sales cover your fixed costs, or what your money would have made somewhere else. The math runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us. The numbers ride along in the page address, so copying the link saves the scenario.

How it's calculated
Each amount grows once a year: amount × (1 + rate)years. The baseline column does the same at the baseline rate over that holding's own years. Difference is the baseline value minus the holding's value, and the gap is that difference as a share of the baseline value.
Totals add values reached in different years, so they don't describe one balance on one date. The average rate is weighted by amount and ignores time.

How it's calculated
Payment = amount × r ÷ (1 − (1 + r)−n), where r is the yearly rate divided by 12 and n is the number of months. At 0% it's the amount divided by n.
Each month's interest is the balance × r, rounded to the cent, and the rest of the payment comes off the balance. The last payment is a few cents different so the balance lands on exactly $0.

How it's calculated
Margin per unit = price − cost per unit. Units to break even = fixed costs ÷ margin per unit, rounded up because you can't sell part of a unit. Break-even sales = those units × price.
